
Bec is an Australian based performer, producer, director, choreographer and engagement specialist.
Bec encourages people to see their world in new ways through highly physical, participatory, practical, collaborative and celebratory actions. For over 15 years, Bec has passionately worked in the space where professional artists and communities of interest meet; collaborating with communities and artists nationally and internationally. In 2017-18, Bec is a Fellowship recipient from the Australia Council for the Arts.
Bec has produced and performed for major arts festivals and organisations nationwide including; Melbourne, Sydney, Darwin, Brisbane and Next Wave Festivals, Foostcray Community Arts Centre, Dance House, Arts Centre Melbourne and City of Melbourne’s Arts and Participation Program.
Together with Tristan Meecham, Bec leads All The Queens Men creating participatory, theatrical experiences of scale. Their sport/art spectacle Fun Run has been performed nationally and internationally since 2010 (Melbourne, Darwin, Sydney, South Korea, Finland and Gold Coast).
Since 2011, Bec has been a key collaborator with internationally renowned German theatre makers, Rimini Protokoll as the Associate Director of reality theatre juggernauts, 100% Melbourne (City of Melbourne), 100% Darwin (Darwin Festival) and 100% Brisbane (Museum of Brisbane).
Bec has also collaborated with acclaimed Australian artists Madeleine Flynn and Tim Humphrey for over ten years including the award winning water based project, Five Short Blasts. In 2016, (once again in collaboration with Madeleine and Tim, David Wells and Merophie Carr), Bec began Weekly Ticket Footscray, a new 15 year long durational public art work set in one of Melbourne’s busiest metropolitan train stations.
Together with Ian Pidd and Kate McDonald, Bec is also founder of Everybody Now!, creating participatory art works Australia-wide. In 2015 and 2016 Bec collaborated with Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts and Culture Centre (NT) directing large-scale, site specific dance projects. In 2017 she will toured and performed with varying projects to Hamburg, Winton, Blakall and Darwin.
Bec has continually served on various arts boards and regularly mentors young and emerging artists formally and informally. Bec’s true loves are Staffordshire Bull Terriers, ceilidhs, Italo disco and dancing.
